From idea to European project: Shake Up featured in two days of exchange on EU funding opportunities at the University of Catania

16 Jul 2026

On 30 June and 1 July 2026, Moverim, as a partner of the Shake Up project, took part to a two-day workshop at University of Catania dedicated to European project development and EU funding programmes such as Horizon Europe.

The workshop focused on how to transform an idea into a successful European project, with particular attention to funding schemes supporting research and innovation in areas such as the buildings sector. In this context, the Shake Up project and in particular Shake up Academia was presented as a concrete example of an EU-funded initiative, illustrating how collaborative projects are structured and implemented at European level.

During the event, participants had the opportunity to explore the key steps of project design and proposal development, engaging in hands-on discussions around emerging ideas and potential project concepts. Several proposals were analysed collectively, with the aim of identifying synergies and possible consortia. In addition, Moverim carried out a scouting and “flagging” activity of promising initiatives relevant to Shake Up partners, supporting the identification of future funding opportunities and collaboration pathways.

The workshop gathered nearly 50 participants, including researchers, academic representatives, and sector stakeholders, fostering a rich and highly qualified exchange on the challenges and opportunities of European project development, particularly within the buildings sector.

This initiative further highlighted Shake Up’s role as a concrete example of EU-funded collaboration, contributing to knowledge sharing on European project building processes and strengthening connections among stakeholders working on innovation and energy transition in the construction sector.
